Big Romans

In a busy little strip mall off of US 1 in Micco anchored by a Winn Dixie, sits Big Romans pizza. It's a quaint little place complete with 5 tables to dine inside.  They have a neat concept with their menu. Seems that they have a paper menu on every table on top of that menu sits a clear plastic cover that is the size of the table.

As usual the order was a large pepperoni pizza, my wait for hot pizza was a short one.  While I waited, I found out that the current owner has owned it for the last six years. Super nice guy.  Even teased  me a little when I walked in regarding me outside taking pictures. The pizza came out beautiful, a very pleasing to the eye pie.  Lots of pepperoni were on this pie, roughly 6 per slice.  A meaty flavorful pepperoni which had very little kick.  I enjoyed this pepperoni. The crust had a nice crunch with a soft interior. A fresh baked bread taste. Coincidentally, they bake their own bread for their subs. The cheese they use is Roma Cheese. They are generous with their cheese portion.  Under this delicious cheese was the sauce. A fresh tasting delicious mild sauce.  Wish there was more of the sauce.  All together this was an excellent pie.  A 5 out of 5 Dancing Pepperonis. Thank You Big Romans.

Pherraras Pizzeria (Palm Bay)

Off of the Malabar Road exit in Palm Bay, tucked away in a small plaza practically touching interstate 95, sits Pherraras Pizza. If you chose to sit outside and eat your pie, you could watch the cars zoom by. Or just get gas at the gas station at the other end of the plaza.

I was there for the pizza, walking in I was directed to sit anywhere I wanted. The dining room had a quaint cozy atmosphere. It had pictures of New York landmarks adorning the walls. Along with three strategically placed TVs all showing something different.  The wait for my large pepperoni pizza was not very long. Of course it was delivered to my table piping hot and looking delicious. After the pie posed for pictures, it was time to eat.

The first bite had a delicious flavor, highlighted by a tasty slightly sweet mild sauce. Which covered a delicious crust that had a nice crunchy outside and soft interior.  The pie was topped with a pepperoni that starts off mild and finishes with a kick.  In between the sauce and the pepperoni was the cheese.

When I saw the poster of Grande Cheese, I knew that I was getting a good quality cheese on my pie. This pizza had a generous amount of cheese. Nothing like covering an excellent pie with good cheese. All four of these together are a perfect blend that makes a 5 out of 5 Dancing Pepperonis pie. Thank You Pherraras Pizza for your time today.

Cesta Pizza (Cocoa)

In the opening scenes of the old TV show Miami Vice they showed Jai Alai being played.  Jai Alai venues once were all over Florida. The sports popularity has since waned, fortunately for one former player he opened Cesta Pizza on US 1 in  Cocoa.  The name is a nod to his playing days, as the cesta was the name of the wicker basket used to catch and propel the ball.

He opened Cesta Pizza in 1991 and still owns and operates it today. The building they are located in is part of a small strip mall that could use a refresh.  The inside of Cesta pizza also has seen better days.  According to the owners they are in the process of remodeling the inside. At this time the decor on the south wall has several pictures of the owners hometown in his Native Spain. As for the pizza, my guest and I ordered a large pepperoni pizza. After a short wait, the pie was delivered to the table piping hot. It was a pleasing looking pie.

The first taste had  a nice crunch and a delicious taste. The crust had a nice flavor with a soft interior. Very enjoyable. The cheese had a nice pull to it along with a slightly salty taste. The Pepperoni they use has a spicy taste to it from the get go. A nice mild sauce with a hint of sweetness completes the pie (Side note, it could have used more sauce ). All together this a fine pie.  A family friendly pie for everyone.  4 out of 5 Dancing Pepperoni. Thank You Cesta Pizza.

Giordano's (Orlando)

International drive in Orlando boasts some too notch restaurants, lots of hotels, theme parks and several pizza places.  Sitting a block off of International Drive is Giordano's Chicago Style pizza.  Time for a Chicago Deep Dish pizza.

Upon entering we were promptly greeted by a friendly and accommodating waiter. He told us to have a seat anywhere we wanted.  Once we sat, he was immediately at the table taking our drink orders.  When he returned with our drinks, we then ordered a deep dish pepperoni pizza. He informed us that it would be about a 45 minute wait and asked us if that would be ok.  Sure, after all we were there for the Deep Dish pizza. After what seemed to be a less than a 45 minute wait, our pizza was delivered to the table nice and hot.  This was a beauty to behold, sauce on the top, everything else under the sauce. All surrounded by a thin pie like crust, with the Pepperoni on the bottom and cheese, lots of cheese in the center

The crust had a nice flakey feel to it along with a nice crunch. It almost seemed like a pastry pie crust. The crust also was firm enough that it didn't fall apart in your hand.

The sàuce Sauce had a hint of oregano.  Nice mild sauce with a bit of a kick, nothing over powering just a hint. According to their literature, they use hand picked tomatoes. These tomatoes are grown in Mendocino County, California.  The sauce is prepared daily.

The cheese had a smooth slightly salty taste. Seemed like a hint of Ricotta, when asked what kind of cheese, I was told it's a Wisconsin Mozzarella. It's their signature mozzarella cheese. They shred it daily to ensure that it has that creamy, buttery flavor and legendary Giordano's melt. Now the disappointment. Where is the meat? Well the Pepperoni is under all the delicious cheese and sauce. The Pepperoni had a nice meaty taste with a slight kick.  Good Pepperoni. Didn't seem like enough.  Very hard to tell as it was at the bottom, the others in my party kept asking where was the Pepperoni. This pie had very little greasiness, probably due to the pepperoni being on the bottom.  All together this was a great pie. 5 out of 5 Dancing Pepperonis.  Completely recommend giving them a try, especially if you always wanted to try a Chicago style pizza.

Lou Malnati

For a pizza that you must cook in your oven, it comes out very tasty.  It has a delicious flakey crust, smooth fresh sauce, meaty pepperoni and tasty cheese, this pie did not disappoint. The process to cook the pizza on the video. Simply put it Cooks for 40-45 minutes from frozen at 425.  You do have to prep the supplied pan with olive oil. Out of the oven the  crust is a deep dish delight.  Flakey and full of flavor. It has a nice crunch to it. Lots of flavor. It holds well to the cooking process in your oven.

Nowadays you can get almost anything delivered over great distances, even pizza. Nothing like a real deep dish pizza delivered to your door from Chicago. Lou Malnati's brings a taste of Chicago to your door. Delivered from their kitchen to you. Of course, it's packed in a box with dry ice and then you must use your oven to cook it.

The sauce is full of large chunks of tomato. It has a mild and sweet taste.  The large chunks of tomato give it a homemade feel to it.  While a not a fan of large chunks of tomato in my sauce, these tasted delicious The Cheese had a nice pull to it.  With a nice taste.  The Pepperoni they used on this had a high quality taste to it.  Nice and meaty with a nice spicy aftertaste. All together this was an excellent pie.  Makes me want to go to Chicago to try it at the original location. Want one fresh out of their oven.

The rating on this is a 5 out of 5 Dancing Pepperonis. Side note,  the box that it came in was labeled Taste of Chicago.  A quick check of the website, shows lots of famous brands from Chicago, just in case you wanted to try some yourself.  As always, like, share, subscribe and comment.

Return to Odyssey (Cocoa)

Rain and more rain, perfect time to began an Odyssey as in a return to Odyssey Pizza, this time for a meat smorgasbord.  Hamburger, Pepperoni, Ham, Sausage and Bacon.  This a not my usual pie when I come here but today is going to be different.

Even on a rainy day in mid afternoon Odyssey is doing a brisk business. That still didn't interfere with one of the owners promptly greeting me as I walked in the door. He took my order and I went and found a table to await my pie.
My wait was not long. One piping hot meat lovers pizza. Yum!

It was packed full of meat.  Delicious shredded hamburger, spicy tasty pepperoni, ham with a wonderful smoked flavor, very spicy sausage that really says hey, I'm here, and bacon it was piled so high that it was falling off and all over the place. (My only complaint).  Of course lots of that amazing cheese blend they use. Oh, did I mention that the pizza had plenty of the homemade super tasty sauce?

Odessey Pizza has proudly served Cocoa and the surrounding area since 1979. I have been a happy customer since I first tried them.  I highly recommend that you give them a try.

Funny story, years ago, I brought a friend here. It was his first visit. My friend loves extra and I mean extra cheese on his pizza.  So my friend says he wants double extra cheese. They ask him, "are you sure?", He says, "Absolutely". Well, they make the pie and I have never seen that much cheese on a pizza,  It looked like a huge mozzarella cheese pie.  Lol, crazy as it was.  Darn thing was still good.. My suggestion, don't order double extra cheese.

Definitely goes without saying that today's visit to Odessey pizza was a 5 out of 5 Dancing Pepperonis. Thanks Odyssey. Don't forget follow, like, comment, and share on all our social media platforms.

Palermo (Palm Bay)

In a little U Shaped plaza off of Palm Bay road sits a little pizza place called Palermo's Pizza. They have the northeast corner lot, with a few tables outside and a few tables inside.

As we walked towards Palermo's Pizza, one of the employees came outside. When he saw us, he promptly, greeted us and promptly open the door to make it easier for us to enter.  Once inside we were greeted with the mouthwatering scent of a Pizza kitchen. yum!

Murals have been painted on the walls on the dining room side of the restaurant. Several of the murals depict Italian country side. One mural was of a Street Cafe lined with famous Italian American individuals, from Sophia Loren to Pavarotti.

Immediately after we entered we were asked our order, easy question.  Large pepperoni pizza and a couple of bottles of water, though I did change mine to an Ice Tea. After a short wait, our piping hot pizza was delivered to our table.  It was of course, nice and hot. After it posed for pictures we got down to the best part, eating pizza. This pie tasted as good as it looked. One thing we noticed off the bat was the sparseness of pepperoni. It had an average of three pepperoni per slice. The pepperoni was a bit mild, with not a lot of flavor and very little spiciness.

After the first bite I turned the slice around and started from the crust, great move.  This was a nice crisp and crunchy dough. The sauce was delicious, not too mild, not too sweet, not to spicy.  Only complaint was, you guessed it, not enough sauce. The cheese had a nice stringy feel and a little bit of pull.  It was creamy and a little sweet. It was very enjoyable.

These parts all came together to create a solid pie that was thoroughly enjoyable.  A 4 out of 5 Dancing Pepperonis. Thank You Palermo's Pizza.
