Mamma Rosa's (Titusville)

It was time to head back to Titusville. Our journey took us to Mamma Rosa's Pizzeria Restaurant. Mamma Rosa's his a hidden gem on Cheney Hwy, away from the busy downtown area. As we walked in, our immediate feeling was that we were overdressed, but that was put aside as soon as everyone greeted us with friendly hellos. The interior was immaculate and well taken care of. The walls were painted to look like an old villa with the facade being chipped away to show the raw brick underneath. Black and white artwork donned the walls depicting things like; old phots of Italy, and caricatures of pizza chefs. Crooner style music lightly played across the speakers finishing off the upscale feel of the place.

The menu was a little hard to put away. There were several items that looked appealing, but we needed a pepperoni pizza. Like Wagon Wheel, Mamma Rosa's offered a choice of pizzas. They had the traditional round, and also a Sicilian. We decided to change things up just a bit, and instead of the round pie, we went with the Sicilian with pepperoni. We had to keep somewhat to our rules. We were not let down either.

As you can see from the photo, it looked amazing, what you can't get from the photo, was just how good it smelled. We almost didn't have time to get our shots for the video because we wanted to eat it right away. It had a nice char to the crust that made us believe that it was a brick oven pizza, but to our surprise it wasn't. The taste was out of this world fantastic. A nice sweet flavor with a bit of tang from the sauce, with a creamy flavor of the mozzarella, and the hearty meaty flavor of the pepperoni. All those flavors coming together in each bite, made this pizza one of the best we have tried. The crust was was soft with that nice crispy outside, that tasted of homemade bread. This is crust done right. We asked about the dough and sauce, and were told that they were both made in house from old home recipes.

For our immediate point of view on this wonderful pie, watch the video below.

We can't say enough about how great the service was. Very friendly and on top of things. For service we give a 5. The atmosphere and cleanliness was top notch, so another 5 goes for that. Price is always a sticky one, in order to get a 5 on price, you would have to almost give this pizza away, and that just isn't possible, price point brings in a 3, but we would gladly pay the price for this pizza. As for taste, well, that is nearly a 5, that brings us to our overall rating, which is without doubt a 5. We can't recommend Mamma Rosa's enough. We are looking forward to going back as soon as we can. We have a round pie to try there, but we believe that we may just forfeit our rules again, and jut get whatever toppings we want on it. It's too good not to.

Other Guy here with the reheat update: I nearly messed this up. I accidentally left my toaster oven on broil. Once I smelled that tantalizing aroma, I ran out to check on it. I was almost in time. I did crisp up the crust just a little too much, which hardened it a bit, but that was my fault. That initial tanginess that was in the first taste, was back with more power. Reheating brought even more of that delicious tanginess out of the sauce. Despite my best efforts to ruin the reheat, this pizza held true, and was just as good reheated the next day.

  1. Thanks for the review of Mamma Rosa's two guys! Do you have a comparison of the various pizza shops you have visited. All of the places you have reviewed look so good. I don't get down to your area very often. What is is one place that you have reviewed that I should not miss on my next trip?
