Bruno's Pizzeria (Merritt Island)

We went for our first visit to Merritt Island, and tried the self proclaimed best pizza on the Island. It is none other than Bruno's Pizzeria. We were greeted with a hearty handshake and a boisterous hello. Upon first appearance it is clean but has a gritty feel, a working person's type of place. There is a walk up counter for you to order from, and your pizza is delivered to your table.

There was an odd combination of art on the walls, A sperm whale on one wall, while the other wall had paintings of pizza chef's. All in all it just adds to that quaint working class charm. The
bathrooms are clean with a highly visible clean kitchen that can be seen from any of the modest seating. This seems more like a carry out type of place rather than a dine in, but you can if you want to.

Now for the pie, which came out hot and ready in quick fashion. The crust was crunchy with a nice charred flavor to it, but it quickly got chewy as it cooled down. That is a definite downside for this pie, but the rest of it more than makes up for that cooled crust.

The pepperoni had a nice crispiness to it, and it seemed like it was pork based, which would explain that nice crunch on the edges. The mozzarella had a wonderful sweet taste to it, but it did tend to cover the roasted tomato flavor of the delicious sauce. All in all, this is a very good pizza, now here's Guy with the reheat update.

Reheat Update: Guy here with the reheat update. I set my oven at 450, waited until it hit temp and placed the pie on a pizza rack until it got hot, approximately 5-7 minutes. As I proceeded to gobble this reheat done, something occurred to me...this pie got better. The crust had a crispness to it that was delicious. This was one of those rare pies that got better with a reheat. And my wife throughly enjoyed the turkey sub I brought home for her.

There you have it, The pie got better with the reheat, but because of the crust and how it got tough when it cooled, we can only give Bruno's 4 dancing pepperoni. It's a good pie worth getting, but eat it fast and then reheat it the next day for that crunch crust that you have in the beginning.
