We went to Port St. Johns for the thinnest crust we have ever had on a pizza. Troy's Pizzeria & Tacos was the place, and no we did not try the tacos. It's slightly off the beaten path and a little hard to find, hidden behind a parking lot full of large trees, but when you find it, you are in for a pleasant experience.
The inside has been recently repainted and well cleaned. Tables and booths have an old style tile mosaic tops. You order at the counter where they have several pizzas on display for single slice dine in or carry out. The pizza is delivered when it is done, but drinks are self serve. The staff is friendly and ready to answer any question you may have, and they thank you and say good bye as you leave. You get hit with a nice pizza smell when you walk through the door. Pictures representing the space program adorn the walls. The menu is very basic and lacks descriptions of what might be on what pizza but as we said the staff is ready to answer any question you may have.
The pizza is the whole reason we are here, and Troy's makes a good pizza. It has a nice hearty flavor even thought he sauce is overpowered by the cheese. The pepperoni has a nice kick to it, but it wasn't distributed evenly so you can miss out on all that great flavor from bite to bite. The crust was light, soft and crispy with a mild flavor that complimented all the other flavors on the pie. This was the thinnest crust we have experience on a pizza, and despite that, it held up really well. It maintained it's integrity throughout our dining experience. It tasted the same when we started to the very last bite. It's nice and foldable but has that classic thin crust droopy tip. That is so all that delicious pizza grease can funnel straight into your mouth. We love a greasy pizza.
With the cleanliness of the dining area, bathrooms, and visible kitchen area, we give Troy's a 5. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Very prompt when asked a question or providing something that you need. Service also gets a 5. The pizza was delicious and came to the table right out of the oven with a full flavor to tickle your taste buds. Our overall experience gets Troy's a 4 .
If you are ever in Port St. Johns or you live there, go in and get a pie from Troy's Pizzeria & Tacos. They are under new ownership with a new staff, and we have to say that they are doing things right. Make sure you tell them that The Pepperoni Report sent you.

Love and Pizza Slices.
