Soprano's Pizza & Mediterranean Grill (Palm Bay)

Deep in the southern end of the county sits a jewel in the pizza world. Soprano's Pizza & Mediterranean Grill is that jewel, and a shiny one it is.

I don't think it was customary, but we were greeted at the door with a friendly smile and a handshake. We weren't arguing. You have to walk down a long narrow entry way that opens into the dining area, which is a wonderful combination of modern and old world charm. Our server came to us as soon as she saw we were settled and took our order of a large pepperoni pizza and drinks. The kitchen is tucked away, but we got a look inside and it is just as clean as the rest of the joint.

Our pizza came out in a timely fashion and it looked fantastic. Everything was in it's place. As you can see from the photo, it's a good looking pizza, and those looks weren't deceiving. The crust was perfect with a light charring that added a nice flavor to it. The sauce was robust and there was a fair amount of it, much more than most places. It had flavors of roasted tomatoes, rosemary, and possibly thyme, with a little spicy kick to it. The mozzarella was creamy with a nice tight snap to it. The pepperoni, well we had a differing of opinions on that. Guy thought the pepperoni was spicy, but clearly his taste buds were broken. It was very mild and leaned toward a pork based flavor. This pizza came together quite nicely from start to finish. That crust held up throughout and the mozzarella had a nice sweetness that began to come out as the pizza cooled down. If you want to see our immediate reaction to this wonderful pie, then watch the video below.

Guy here with a reheat update: I went back to the toaster oven, set it at 450 and let it heat up. After a bit, I placed the slices in the center of the toaster oven, left them in there until they became hot (roughly, 10 minutes). The crust became even crispier and yet retained its soft center. The rest of the pie held up equally as well.

What would you expect a pizza that get's this glowing of a review? If you watched the video you already know. They gave us a pizza that we couldn't refuse and we gave Soprano's our highest rating of 5 Dancing Pepperoni. Do yourself a favor and get to Soprano's for one of their pizzas.
