Pizza@Titus Landing (Titusville)

Titusville has had a rollercoaster history, but they are now at the top of the hill, and part of that is Titus Landing. Sitting deep within this large outdoor shopping experience, is pizza@Titus Landing. They are part of a small Florida chain. I know, we usually stay away from chains, but we made an exception since this isn't a National Chain.

They do things a little different than your normal pizzeria. Based on an al a carte cafeteria style, or as some people call it, Subway style, you have a choice from the start. You can select what dough you want from: Traditional, Whole Wheat, Gluten Free, or Thick Crust. After that you go to sauces: Classic Tomato, Spicy Tomato, Alfredo Ricotta, Red Hummus, or Virgin Olive Oil. You still have to get through the cheeses: @Blend, Ricotta, Mozzarella, Cheddar, or Vegan Cheese. Then it's all about the toppings. Your standard pizza fare is here, with a few other exceptions like Mahi Mahi and Shrimp. When the pizza comes out of the conveyor oven that cooks the pizza in 2 minutes at 500 degrees, there is one last stop, and that is what they call Free Finishes. This includes some fresh vegetable toppings, oils, and sauces.

When you walk in, you are struck by the industrial art deco style that they have going on. It's a bit sterile, but that is due to the stainless steel chairs and counters, that go along with the stark white walls. There are several black and white art pieces on the walls, that are all highlighted with that bright red @ symbol. The branding is evident, and honestly, quite well done.

You stand in line like you would at any cafeteria, and wait your turn. When you get there, there is an LED sign that has their specialty pizzas, as well as some pizzas that costumers have named, and have become fast favorites. You are greeted by a friendly staff member that begins your order.

You start with that dough, then the sauce, cheese, and finally toppings. You get to see each process as it happens. They load the pizza up right before your eyes, and then place it on the conveyor that takes it though the oven. At the end of the conveyor, you are greeted by another employee that will load you up with those Free Finishes if you choose so. the pizza is handed off to you and your final stop is the counter for a drink and to pay.

They have a seamless flow, that works great for fast food, and this is definitely the fastest we have gotten a pizza.

Let's get to that pizza, after all, that's what we are here for. We are going to break this up into separate stories, since Guy got the Carnivore, while Other Guy got the Aloha Onie.

Guy here, and you know me. I haven't found a meat lover's pizza that I won't eat, so I ordered the Carnivore. This was loaded with all the meats: Meatballs, Ham, Pepperoni, Sausage, and Bacon. I went with the traditional crust and classic tomato sauce, with the @Blend of cheese, which consists of Mozzarella, Provolone, and Parmesan. Although this was a really good pizza, I felt that nothing stood out. Everything was solid and tasty, but there was no superstar to this pie. It was very delicious, but with nothing really standing out, I can only give it a 4 for a rating.

Other Guy here, I went out of the box on this one, since pizza@ is an out of the box type of place. I chose the Aloha Onie. For all you pineapple haters out there, you may as well skip to the next paragraph, because I'm going to give some praise to this wonderfully delicious treat from our fiftieth state. I opted for the Whole Wheat crust, just to change things up. The pizza came with a creamy white Alfredo Sauce, and the smooth @Blend of cheese. It was topped with almost the entire menu of toppings: Smoked BBQ Pulled Por, Ham, Bacon, Pineapple, Green Peppers, Red Onions, Jalapeños, and a Hawaiian BBQ Sauce. I'm going to admit, that I chose not to have the Jalapeños. I wimped out, I know. With out them, this pizza was still fantastic. It was the perfect mixture of sweet and savory, with just the right amount of saltiness to top it off. Let's not forget about that pineapple. The best part of any Hawaiian pizza, is that pineapple. The way it bursts in your mouth for that wonderful flavor explosion. If you are afraid of pineapple on your pizza, you really need to get over that. It's a great pizza topping with the proper supporting cast of ingredients. Due to my unforgiving bias of things that call themselves pizza, actually being pizza shaped, I'm giving the Aloha Onie a 4 rating. If it were more round, I may have hit it with a 5, but I'm admitting my flaws.

Even though pizza@ had that sterile feeling to it there was a lot of life in their artisanal pizzas. Friendly staff, that will answer any question you have, and hospital caliber cleanliness. We can't give pizza@ anything lower than a 4. Guy thinks they do everything good, but not great, while Other Guy has that round pizza bias. We really do think you should give them a try if you are in the area. It is a nice filling pizza for a cheap price, with quality ingredients, and comes out fast. If you have 30 minutes for lunch, you will have time to stop in one of the many shops in Titus Landing when you are done eating.
